Download iCal FileSTEM Scholars after-school program is a free six-week program held twice a year to encourage marginalized, underrepresented Chicago high school students (9th - 12th grades) to pursue secondary education in STEM. Students work together to tackle challenging and engaging hands-on activities in engineering, architecture, environmental sustainability, chemistry, and coding. Each session challenges students’ critical thinking skills and opens a world of possibilities.
Visiting professionals expand on the activities and lessons learned to help students relate the studies they pursue to culminating in a tangible career. Upon completion of the program, a subset of participants are offered a paid summer internship based on interest, financial need, being a first-generation college student, and other factors.
