The Office of Community Collaboration( OCC) was formed to build upon and strengthen UIC’s current community engagement efforts. OCC seeks to serve as a catalyst for true partnerships and reflect a commitment to establish reciprocal relationships that provide opportunities to collaboratively define and, as necessary, redefine the terms of engagement and measures of equity. Special thanks to the Office of Diversity, Equity and Engagement for their support of this initiative and especially Ocean (OCEAN-HP) for their leadership in developing the Neighborhood Centers and fostering sustained community lead services.

The North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council (NLCCC) improves the physical, economic and social fiber of the local community through strategic and comprehensive planning, civic engagement and implementation of stakeholder-driven initiatives. They continually develop and execute bold community-driven solutions with the input of an engaged community that questions assumptions and challenges the status quo.

The Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation Heading link

The Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) works to foster and promote the revitalization of the low-to-moderate income communities that we serve using comprehensive community development strategies. Since 2001, the GAGDC has worked to organize residents and other community stakeholders, assess existing programs, identify service deficiencies, and generate organizational and community commitments to address them; and partner with other organizations to collectively attract and integrate new or improved services.

UIC Office of Community Engagement and Neighborhood Health Partnerships (OCEAN-HP) fosters partnerships to bring together the expertise, resources and wisdom from the community with that of the university to strengthen the quality of life for all beneficiaries. These relationships enhance community and university leadership as well as organizational capacity. Through partnerships, OCEAN-HP contributes to neighborhood revitalization through teaching, research and services that are focused on measurable improvements in educational outcomes, health status, economic conditions, physical environment and safety among other important issues.
